The Lochiel club started off in 1951 by Greta Miller with Betty Atchison as the tutor in the Caledonian Hall in Grey St.  In those days it was called the Hamilton Caledonian SCD Club and held weekly club nights in the Caledonian Society Hall in Grey Street, Hamilton East.  At the end of 1971 the club severed its relationship with the Hamilton Caledonian Society and formed a new club under the name of the Lochiel SCD Club and danced in the Fairfield Intermediate School Hall.  The club shifted to the present site of Knox Presbyterian Church Hall for the commencement of 1974.

A fully detailed history is in the process of being compiled by Christine Miller and Glenys Pearce and is available by applying to the club secretary.
